Bay View Teen Earns Eagle Scout Honors Ald. Tony Zielinski was on hand when Boy Scout Troop 47 -- chartered by the First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa -- recognized Alexander Kowalsky, 16, as an Eagle Scout on April 5, 2008. Alexander is the son of Paul and Jennifer Kowalsky of Bay View. Ald. Zielinski presented Alexander with a congratulatory commendation from the Milwaukee Common Council. Only 2% of Scouts attain the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America. Eagle Scout requirements include earning a number of merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit, service, and leadership. Another requirment is to complete an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Alexander's project was to renovate the Master Gardeners Lifelong Garden exhibit at the DNR area of the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. The renovation included laying crushed stone to make the area handicap accessible, building two handicap accessible raised planters, and renovating existing planters. Alexander's Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project benefited the Southeastern Wisconsin Master Gardeners and all that visit the Wisconsin State Fair's DNR area. The project was completed in June 2007 and was enjoyed by patrons of the 2007 Wisconsin State Fair. Alexander is a junior at Rufus King International Baccalaureate World High School. He is a member of the Junior Varsity soccer team, French Honor Society, and National Honor Society. Outside of school, Alexander plays goalkeeper with the New Berlin Soccer Club and enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with his family and friends. Alexander is working diligently on his high school academics and plans to pursue a college education at UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, or Marquette University. Alexander plans to pursue a career focused on public service whether it is in local politics, education, or as a firefighter. |
You must have a license plate and an annual registration sticker or your vehicle may be cited and towed. Make sure that your license plate is attached to the rear bumper of your vehicle and the annual registration sticker is placed in the lower right hand corner of your rear license plate. Don’t let thieves ruin your day by making it easier for them to steal your license plate or your annual registration sticker. Reduce your chances of being a victim of crime by following this advice: Install a license plate frame with a clear plexiglass cover over the rear license plate to protect the license plate as well as the registration sticker. Although it may not prevent every theft, it will make it more difficult for the criminal. If you are the victim of theft of your license plate or registration sticker, immediately report it to any State of Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicle Service Center. |
