Milwaukee Residents May Qualify for Federal Assistance

Under FEMA Disaster Declaration

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is assisting Milwaukee residents eligible to apply for federal funds being made available to those affected by the recent flooding in Milwaukee County. Individuals may qualify for financial assistance under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual and Households Program. Local businesses with storm damage may qualify for assistance from the Small Business Administration disaster program.  Register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or online at www.fema.gov

Help for Homeowners Facing Foreclosure

The City of Milwaukee is committed to helping our neighborhoods remain healthy for generations to come. We are coordinating with various organizations, government agencies and private lenders and reaching out to homeowners facing foreclosure.


Milwaukee Area Development Plans

Check out Area Planning for all 99 square miles of Milwaukee . Area Plans guide future neighborhood development and identify future catalytic projects. The Department of City Development works with the public to create comprehensive area plans. Work is also underway on a Citywide Policy Plan to guide citywide strategies on a broad range of issues, including economic development and transportation, in each of the planning areas. The public is invited to participate in the planning for Milwaukee.

Frank P. Zeidler Public Service Award

The Frank P. Zeidler Public Service Award Selection Committee, Chaired by former Acting Mayor Marvin Pratt, will be selecting up to 2 individuals to receive the Frank P. Zeidler Public Service Award. Frank Zeidler, who served as Milwaukee Mayor from 1948 to 1960, also worked tirelessly with a variety of civic associations for the public good. Information Wanted For Homicide Investigation

Please study surveillance photos taken Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the scene of a homicide at 5501 W. Vliet St. If you recognize this person or have any information that might be helpful to investigators, please call the Milwaukee Police Department at 935-7360. A substantial reward is being offered in an effort to help solve the case.
