The goal of the Milwaukee Health Department's Consumer Environmental Health group is to improve the overall quality and safety of consumer products and services in Milwaukee.  Although the primary focus is on food safety, other responsibilities include ensuring equity and fairness in the market place, as well as the safety of consumer products purchased at retail.  The group uses a variety of strategies toward achieving its outcome including inspections, investigations, enforcement, education and consultations.  In addition, licenses are issued to all regulated food, tattoo and body piercing vendors, close out sales and for weighing and measuring devices.
