Mayor Tom Barrett Announces Kate Huston, City Librarian,
Will Maintain Her Current Post 

MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced Monday that Kathleen M. Huston, will continue in the role of City Librarian. A position she has held for 13 years.

"Kate has done a great job overseeing Milwaukee's 12 neighborhood library branches and helping ensure the library is every person's gateway to knowledge," said Mayor Barrett.

"I'm delighted to have Kate continue as a member of my cabinet. Under her guidance the library has implemented many initiatives, including computer access and literacy tutoring, to improve service to Milwaukee and area residents without increasing costs to taxpayers," said Mayor Barrett.
Huston began her career at the Milwaukee Public Library in 1969. Prior to becoming City Librarian, she served in many capacities, including librarian in various departments, branch manager of two neighborhood libraries, coordinator of the Humanities Department and Assistant City Librarian, directing the operation of Central Library.
