Manpower opens its doors on new Milwaukee Global HQ

Milwaukee is home to many great things, including a number of catalytic, groundbreaking companies from the Fortune 500 to small employers igniting our neighborhood main streets and embodying the entrepreneurial spirit of our community.

Mayor Barrett welcomes Manpower to downtown MilwaukeeManpower, Inc. unveiled its new global corporate headquarters in downtown Milwaukee on Tuesday. The $78 million, 280,000-square-foot, four-story building is located along the Milwaukee River, southeast of North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Cherry Street.

Many people came together to make this beautiful building a reality, but I especially want to thank Manpower CEO Jeff Joerres and his team for their decision to keep Manpower here in southeastern Wisconsin. An $18 billion company with 4,400 offices in 73 countries can pretty much pick any city they want in the entire world and we're proud that they continue to call Milwaukee home, as they have done since 1948.

I was proud to work with the Common Council to provide a $25 million financing package making it possible for this gigantic step forward for economic development in our city. Having another global Fortune 500 company like Manpower is a real feather in our cap, and the 900 employees added to the downtown workforce will be a real boon to the area. Manpower joins great neighbors such as Time Warner and others in the Schlitz Park area, and will only add to the momentum already underway.

So, welcome Manpower, we're glad you're here and look forward to our continued partnership as we work to strengthen Milwaukee.
