Mayor Tom Barrett Announces Martin Collins Will Maintain Post as Commissioner—Department of Neighborhood Services

MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced today that Martin G. Collins will maintain his position as Commissioner, Department of Neighborhood Services, a position he has held for the past four years.

"Marty has demonstrated his ability to create and coordinate multi-agency teams that benefit the City, such as the Drug House Abatement, Anti-Graffiti Teams and Project Clean Sweep," said Mayor Barrett.

"I'm pleased with Marty's record of national leadership in the field of code compliance and his personal commitment to the community," said Mayor Barrett.

Collins began his career with the City in 1981. Since that time he has held a series of progressively responsible positions including Building Inspection's Code Enforcement Administrator and Construction Inspection Administrator. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Building Inspection/Neighborhood Services from 1986-2000.

Collins attended the State University of New York at Albany where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Rutgers University School of Law where he was awarded his Juris Doctorate Degree. In addition, Collins received a Master's of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers' Center for Policy Research.
