WHAT'S HAPPENING AT MPD

Milwaukee Police Report
Crime Continues to Decline in 2009

Apr. 16 - Nearly 1,600 fewer people were victims of violent crime in Milwaukee the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2008.

“I wanted to announce these numbers in the heart of Milwaukee’s entertainment district,” Chief Flynn said. “I am sending the message to our community that Milwaukee is open for business. This is a safe place for everyone to come to enjoy all that this city has to offer and the Milwaukee Police Department is clearly having a positive effect. Our
presence is being felt.”

Milwaukee Police Report

10% Drop in Violent Crime in 2008

Feb. 18 - The numbers shared today are more than just numbers – they represent 3,000 fewer crime victims in Milwaukee.

Chief Flynn and Mayor Barrett announce violent crime drops 10% in 2008

"The data shows that focused policing efforts and our strong community partnerships are saving lives and are preventing crimes,” Chief Edward A. Flynn said. “Our core mission is to create neighborhoods capable of sustaining civic life and I am gratified to see that our data show that we are having a significant effect on people’s lives.”
