The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announces a new partnership with MHD to help improve the health of young children and their families in Milwaukee. Project LAUNCH will promote the wellness of children from birth to 8 years of age by addressing the physical, emotional, social, cognitive and behavioral aspects of their development. The City of Milwaukee Health Department will open two of its health center locations on Saturday, September 26th for a special immunization clinic. Students and families that are uninsured or under-insured are eligible to receive shots. If possible, individuals should bring their immunization records with them. Click here for more information. Mayor Tom Barrett and Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker launched the annual city-wide influenza awareness campaign on Monday, September 21st entitled “Let’s Team Up Against the Flu!”, unveiling a unique partnership with the Milwaukee Brewer's and the Milwaukee Bucks to promote vaccination and good hygiene practices. The Visting Nurses Association (VNA) will be providing seasonal flu vaccinations in early October at the City of Milwaukee Health Department's headquarters downtown, as well as our three clinics. The City of Milwaukee has launched a program to help provide residents with some relief from the high cost of prescription drugs. This program makes free prescription drug discount cards available to city residents through a program sponsored by the National League of Cities (NLC). The discount cards offer residents average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs. Click on the links below for more information.
