Police Re-Districting and the 11th District
The Milwaukee Police Department has made re-districting changes that affect the 11th Aldermanic District.
The changes, implemented in July 2009, were announced by Police Chief Edward Flynn as a means of reducing the levels of crime, fear, and disorder through community-based, problem-oriented, and data-driven policing. To view the MPD’s re-drawn district borders, please click here.
Alderman Dudzik said he does not support the new re-districting plan because it expands Police District 6 which serves the 11th Aldermanic District. The re-districting affects the 11th District in the following ways: Police District 6 will continue to serve 11th District. However, the Community Liaison Officers for the district have changed – Officers Carlos Felix and Mark Karkowski for District Six. The commander for the district has changed – Capt. Michael D. Young is now in command at District Six. The chief has sole authority to implement the re-districting.
