First, determine whether you are a commercial, residential, or nonprofit/local government entity. Next, consider whether solar electric or solar hot water is right for you.

Commercial - 50% off site assessment from Focus on Energy

Solar Electric

• Focus on Energy
  • 25% discount if < 20kW system - max award $35,000
  • On a competitive basis, a maximum grant of $50,000 will be available for systems between 20 - 50 kW. This grant is not to exceed 25 % of the system cost.
  • On a competitive basis, a maximum grant of $250,000 will be available for systems > 50 kW. This grant is not to exceed 25% of the system cost.
• We Energies
  • Upfront payment of $.75 per kilowatt-hour for the first year's expected AC generation for system sizes of 1.5 kW-DC to 100 kW-DC
• Federal
  • 30% investment tax credit – (loan interest rate cannot be subsidized)
  • Use Form 3468. Instructions for Form 3468

Solar Hot Water

• Focus on Energy
  • 25% discount if > 250 therms/year - max award $50,000
  • 25% up to $50,000 If > 20kW or 5,000 therms/yr
• We Energies
  • 30% match of the determined reward from Focus on Energy
• Federal
  • Investment tax credit capped at $2,000
  • Use Form 3468. Instructions for Form 3468
