City of Milwaukee residents can start raking their leaves into the curbs starting Thursday, October 1st. Public Works crews will start collecting the leaves on Monday, October 12th. In previous years the Sanitation staff has collected over 13,000 tons of leaves.
A waste reduction and recycling information mailer has been mailed to households of four and fewer units within the City of Milwaukee before with fall leaf collection dates. Residents will be urged to do the following:
Leaves and brush are collected separately from garbage and composted, conserving natural resources while saving the City money. Residents are also encouraged to mulch leaves and leave grass clippings on the lawn. This saves time and money and adds nutrients to the soil.
