Mayor Barrett Statement on Sustaining Conceal/Carry Veto:

"I want to thank the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly who had the courage and common sense to uphold Governor Doyle' s veto of the concealed carry bill.

No one other than the pro- gun special interests was clamoring for this unnecessary piece of legislation.

Getting illegal guns and those who carry and use them off our streets is a real problem that won't be solved by allowing more guns in our communities.

It's time that for the legislature to get serious about protecting citizens from those criminals who victimize our neighborhoods and families with illegal guns."
