NEWS FROM THE MAYOR
Dear Friends,
During the holidays, it is important to remember our troops serving abroad. With this in mind, I ask you to help our troops by giving to the 2nd City of Milwaukee Christmas Care Package Drive for Wisconsin troops serving overseas.
Last year, with the generosity of many City businesses and residents, more than 80 boxes of goodies were shipped to the Wisconsin Army National Guard, Troop E, 105th Cavalry serving in Iraq. As you can imagine shipping 82 boxes was costly, and we were fortunate to have many local businesses, city employees and residents offer significant contributions to cover this cost. Their generosity highlights Milwaukee’s giving spirit.
This year, the City of Milwaukee Christmas Care Package Drive will benefit the 128th Refueling Wing, Wisconsin Air National Guard currently stationed in Afghanistan – which includes 32 servicemen and women from Milwaukee. These troops were deployed in July and will be away from loved ones this holiday season. With your generosity, we can help brighten their holiday and say ‘thank you’ for serving our country.
Gifts and monetary donations to cover the anticipated $3,000 shipping cost will be collected at the Mayor’s Office - City Hall, Room 201 – until Friday, December 12, 2008. More information can be found on the City’s web site: www.city.milwaukee.gov.
Sincerely,

Mayor, City of Milwaukee
